Vodafone
Vodafone is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, founded in the UK in 1982 and headquartered in Newbury, Berkshire, where it famously began life in 1985 operating above a curry house before growing into a global mobile giant. In the UK, Vodafone completed a landmark merger with Three UK on 31 May 2025 to create VodafoneThree, the UK’s largest mobile network operator with approximately 28 million subscribers combined and a commitment to invest £11 billion in the UK over the next decade. In May 2026, Vodafone Group agreed to buy out CK Hutchison Holdings’ 49% stake in VodafoneThree for £4.3 billion, with the deal expected to complete in the second half of 2026, making Vodafone Group the sole owner.
